Fresh Local Herring — Available This Week Only until March 13

Fresh local herring is here for a limited time only. Sustainably gillnet caught near the Strait of Georgia this seasonal catch is available whole and head on.

A 10 lb portion contains approximately 30–50 whole fish. As this is a roe fishery, some herring may contain roe.

Herring is known for its high oil content, delicate small flakes, and creamy-coloured meat. It’s delicious fried, grilled, or boiled, and is also commonly used for smoking, curing, and canning.

Did you know? Salted herring has been enjoyed as a winter staple in Europe for at least 1,000 years.
