Frozen Spot Prawn Tails in Sea Water (1 lb)
Shell-on B.C. spot prawn tails, packed and frozen in pure sea water.
These are B.C. spot prawn tails at their simplest, packed shell-on into a tub with pure sea water, and frozen to preserve every bit of their natural sweetness. The sea water brine keeps the tails naturally seasoned and moist, so they thaw clean and cook beautifully!
Already de-headed and trimmed, these are the most convenient way to enjoy B.C.'s most prized shellfish with no prep work, no waste, just sweet and tender prawn meat ready for the pan, the grill, or the pasta pot.
Please note - not frozen at sea
Unlike our whole head-on spot prawns, these tails are processed and frozen on land after harvest. They are wild-caught B.C. spot prawns stored in sea water but the freezing method is different. If you're looking for our flash-frozen-at-sea whole prawns, see that product here.
How to prepare
- Thaw for an hour in the fridge
- Sauté shell-on in butter and garlic over high heat — 2 min per side
- Toss into pasta, risotto, or a quick stir-fry at the last minute
- Peel before or after cooking — shell-on keeps them juicier
- Do not overcook — 3–4 minutes total is all they need
Sustainability: B.C. spot prawns are harvested under a strictly managed fishery, one of the most sustainable shellfish choices in Canada. No trawling.
Storage: Keep frozen at −18 °C or below. Once thawed, use within 24 hours. Do not refreeze. Allergens: Contains crustacean shellfish.
